Today I arrived here at Equine a bit on edge just due to some personal reasons in my life. We get to see & go in w/ the Mustangs which were so touching. Moonshine came up to me from behind & greeted me, it was so sweet. I wasn’t really looking forward to coming today, actually I was kinda regretting coming & now I’m so thankful & grateful I did. Seeing these gigantic beautiful beasts puts a smile on my face & in my heart. The pure fact that horses can help you process trauma & pain and actually make you feel better after doing so is quite extraordinary if you ask me.
The day is absolutely BEAUTIFUL today. I just told the group members (E, T, K & A) we couldn’t ask for a better day to be out here. The sun is shining & it’s HOT! Everyone except D---- is brushing the horses & I’m sitting here catching some UV rays. I f------ LOVE it! ~N.D. Substance Use Disorder Group My son has Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis that keeps him in chronic pain. We have not been able to find a treatment for it so far, so he is learning how to live in pain. He started equine therapy and I have been overjoyed with the things I’ve seen. He has developed more compassion for animals, and has seen how animals can help calm him down. He is generally an anxious child and was nervous to be around horses but Aubree was so helpful to make him feel less nervous.
He looks forward to his weekly sessions and comes home a new kid each week. I’ve seen a change in his motivation and interests. We see a noticeable difference in Luke’s demeanor and hope. I’m so grateful Luke has found an interest that gives him something to look forward to each week. Amanda E. |
